Everyone online, nobody left out

An eSIM for your family trip

Sort the whole family's data in one go. Buy everyone's eSIMs together, share one link and land with maps, messages and the holiday group chat working.

Why it helps

Why an eSIM helps on a family trip

One less thing to organise when you're already packing for everyone.

  • One link for the whole family

Buy everyone's eSIMs in one checkout, create a trip in your account and share a single link in the family chat. Each person claims and installs their own eSIM, with no QR codes to hand round.

  • Keep the tablet going from your phone

A tablet without its own eSIM can share your data through Personal Hotspot (iPhone) or Wi-Fi hotspot (Android). It uses your allowance more quickly, so choose a bigger plan for the phone that's sharing.

  • Still reachable on your usual number

Our eSIMs are data-only, so your home SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts while the eSIM handles data. For calls over data, use apps like WhatsApp, Teams or Messenger.

  • Top up whoever runs low

If one of you gets through their data faster, add more to that eSIM instead of buying a new one, with nothing new to install. Top-ups are for the same country or region the eSIM covers.

Data guide

How much data will we need?

Each phone uses its own allowance. Video calls and streaming are what eat into it.

  • Maps, messages and the family chat

    Light use

Finding the hotel, the beach and the ice cream, and keeping everyone in touch.

  • Sharing photos and browsing social apps

    Moderate use

Several phones sharing photos adds up over a week, and video most of all. Set photo backups to run on Wi-Fi only, so the holiday album doesn't upload over your data.

  • Video calls home

    Heavy use

Saying goodnight to grandparents over video uses much more data than messages. Keep long video calls for the hotel Wi-Fi where you can.

  • Streaming and games on a shared tablet

    Heavy use

The biggest use, especially through a hotspot, where everything the tablet does comes out of your allowance.

Tips for a connected family trip

  • Install everyone's eSIM at home

Set up each phone on your home Wi-Fi before you travel, using the one-click install button in the confirmation email or account. There's a QR code too, for scanning from another screen.

  • Check every phone first

Each phone needs to support eSIM and be unlocked, including older phones handed down to the kids. Dial *#06#: if an EID number appears, it can use an eSIM. On iPads, only models with mobile connectivity support eSIM.

  • Download for the journey

Apps like Netflix and Spotify let you download shows, films and playlists to watch or play offline. Do it on Wi-Fi before you leave, for the plane, the car and quiet evenings.

  • Turn on data roaming for the eSIM

When you arrive, choose the eSIM as your mobile data line and turn on data roaming for it: the eSIM needs roaming on to connect. With the eSIM as your data line, your home SIM isn't used for data by mistake.

Questions

Family trip eSIM questions

Each eSIM works on one device at a time, so every phone that needs its own data needs its own eSIM. If a child only needs to be online when they're with you, their device can use your phone's hotspot instead.
