An eSIM for your city break

Maps, tickets and bookings on your phone from the moment you land. Prepaid data, with no SIM shop to find and no surprise bill at home.

Why it helps

Why an eSIM helps on a city break

A short trip goes further when you're not hunting for Wi-Fi.

  • Online from the arrivals hall

Install your eSIM on Wi-Fi at home. Your plan's validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network, so switch it on when you land and look up the way into town straight away.

  • Keep your usual number

Our eSIMs are data-only, so your home SIM stays in your phone for calls and texts while the eSIM handles data. For calls over data, use apps like WhatsApp, Teams or Messenger.

  • No need for café Wi-Fi

Public Wi-Fi in hotels, cafés and stations is often unencrypted. Using your own eSIM data for bookings, banking and payments keeps them off networks you don't control.

Data guide

How much data will I need?

A city break is mostly maps, messages and looking things up. Video is what eats into your allowance.

  • Maps, transport apps and messages

    Light use

Finding your way between sights and keeping up with messages. Download the city's offline map on Wi-Fi to use even less.

  • Tickets, bookings and looking things up

    Light use

Opening e-tickets, booking a table, checking opening times and translating a menu. Lots of small requests that add up slowly.

  • Sharing photos and browsing social apps

    Moderate use

A few days of sightseeing photos adds up, and video most of all. Set photo backups to run on Wi-Fi only, so they don't upload over your data.

  • Video calls, streaming and uploading videos

    Heavy use

The biggest use. Keep long video calls and uploads for the hotel Wi-Fi, and download anything you want to watch on the journey before you leave.

Tips for a connected city break

  • Heading to a US city?

Many US networks have switched off 3G. Set your phone's Voice & Data setting to LTE or 5G for a reliable connection.

  • No signal? Try this first

Check data roaming is on for the eSIM, then restart your phone or switch aeroplane mode on and off. If the signal is weak, you can pick another network manually in your mobile settings.

  • Going with friends?

Buy everyone's eSIMs in one checkout and share one Group Trip Sharing link. Each person claims their own, so nobody is sending QR codes round the group chat.

Questions

City break eSIM questions

Plans usually last 7, 15 or 30 days, counted from when the eSIM first connects. For a weekend, pick the shortest plan with a modest allowance: you can top up the same eSIM if you need more. Data left at the end doesn't carry over or get refunded.
